Hot on the heels of its PAX debut and following nearly a year of Closed Alpha testing, we’re excited to announce that Extraction (Dirty Bomb) will be entering Closed Beta in October. If you’re already part of the Founder’s Club, you won’t have to do anything to be part of the Closed Beta, and you’ll receive instant access before the rest of the world.

If the Founder’s Club wasn’t your thing, you can now apply to be part of this next phase of testing and contribute your feedback to the game. To do that, visit the Extraction website and fill out the form. If you’re selected, you’ll receive your Closed Beta key on October 1, at which point you can start playing.

Oktober 2013. verschickt.

IGN have undertaken the mammoth task of compiling the Top 100 First Person Shooters of all time from all of the shooters released in the past 20 or so years. It’s great to see Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory make the list a full decade after its release, deploying in the #84 spot.

Back in the dark age of the FPS, multiplayer was nothing but a bunch of people running in every direction at once with their triggers held down like savages. Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory wasn't the first game to feature objective-focused, class-based competitive play, but its free, open-sourced nature exposed a massive amount of new players to the concept, opening the door for what eventually grow into a much larger trend in multiplayer design.

As a reboot of the franchise that started the genre, Return to Castle Wolfenstein had a lot to live up to. And though it didn't constitute the wheel re-inventing some had hoped it would be, it was still an excellent take on the space between fighting soldiers and fighting hellspawn. In many ways it was just a natural extension of Wolfenstein 3D's controversial final boss, taking historical myths about the Nazis dabbling in the occult and swinging for the fences with them. But it would be the multiplayer that would be remembered most fondly, keeping scads of frag-heads tethered to their gaming rigs until the wee hours for months and years to come.

The great-granddaddy of first-person shooters, Wolfenstein 3D launched the genre we take for granted today. It was inspired by Castle Wolfenstein and its sequel, a pair of relatively crude 2D stealth shooters that pit you against Nazi guards. The metamorphosis into 3D (well, pseudo 3D) was like sorcery in 1992. Gone were the stealth elements; the golden age of run-and-gun shooters erupted with the roar of a chaingun as you blasted through three glorious episodes filled with Nazis and even Adolf Hitler himself as a boss. Id's breakout achievement directly (and indirectly) gave birth to Doom, Rise of the Triad, and every other shooter that followed.

You can check out the rest of the list over at IGN.

Following on from the Spring edition of the Crossfire ET-Tournament series, I am pleased to announce the Crossfire.nu Winter Tournament. This edition will be a 6on6, single division, 16 team tournament.

Just like last time, the cup is open to all OC and EC Fall sign ups. 16 teams will be shortlisted from the signups to compete in the Double Elimination playoff tournament. When signups open, teams will be required to provide a link to their CB Team account which they’ve signed up to OC/EC with as well as their lineup. More details will come on Sunday when sign ups open on how to sign up.
One thing that I can tell you is that the tournament has a bit more of a relaxed schedule than spring where teams found it difficult to organise games within the allotted time. With this relaxed schedule however, there will be NO allowances for rescheduling outside of the times for each round. Upper Bracket games will have a 2 week scheduling period throughout the tournament. We will be using UAC for the cup as well.

Here is a guide on the schedule we hope to stick to throughout the tournament:

17/09/2013 - Cup Announcement
22/09/2013 - Signups Open
01/10/2013 - Signups Closed
02/10/2013 - Playoffs Published & Full Schedule Published
06/10/2013 - Cup Starts
08/12/2013 - Grand Final Played by this date

01/10/2013 - Anmeldung Ende

For the past few weeks, I have been trying to find a new anticheat for ET. TZAC did a good job for a while, but I think most of us can agree that it is time to move on.

You may have heard about the new AC being developed by TrackBase. While it does seem somewhat promising and I wish them the best of luck with it, we simply cannot afford to wait for a brand new anticheat to be made from scratch. I was forced to search for an already existing AC instead, one that would be ready in time for the Fall 2013 season.

I am pleased to announce that ET is now officially supported by Universal Anticheat!

Universal Anticheat (UAC) has been in development since 2006 by a coder named DExUS and currently supports Battlefield 3, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4, and several other games. It has already proven itself on ClanBase in CoD2, so I am confident that it will do good things for ET in the upcoming EC/OC season.

Before I continue, however, I must admit that this is only a temporary solution. DExUS recently announced that he will be shutting down UAC on the 1st of January due to lack of time and motivation. This is obviously very unfortunate, but it's not something I didn't already know about, and it won't stop us from taking advantage of what UAC has to offer ET for the next 3-4 months.

So, how does UAC work?

Like our previous anticheat, UAC is primarily intended to be used in official clan matches. It runs on a system which requires a Match ID to be entered every time it is used.

In ClanBase cup/ladder matches, the Match ID will be the WID at the end of the CB matchlink. (For example, in  https://clanbase.ggl.com/warinfo.php?wid=1337, the match ID is 1337.) If you are playing an IRC war or other non-official match, the Match ID can be anything unique and mutually agreed upon.

Simply select Enemy Territory, enter a Match ID, and check the box next to Start scanning. Then, open ET and play the match as usual. You can minimize at any time to check which players are currently actively scanning in the same Match ID. UAC will scan your memory/files and take screenshots at random times throughout the match. After the match is over, you must uncheck the box next to Start scanning. The scan logs and screenshots will then be uploaded, and you are free to review them in the same UAC window.

If UAC happens to take a few screenshots with your personal information in them, you can immediately delete them while reviewing the screenshots in your UAC window.

More information can be found in the User Manual.

Eugeny has created a new RtCW script editor for Return to Castle Wolfenstein mappers. It edits the .ai and .script files of the game and also has syntax highlighting. It is now also possible to parse the map with the creation of a "skeleton" script.

|ES|LoRenz published two ET Sniper maps ES|Italy Sniper and ES|Puffo Sniper. Both are no crossing maps.

|ES|Italy Sniper is a copy of his own house and garden. Even details like location of furniture in the house should match.
Ofcourse, things has been added or removed to the map, to make it more playable.
I guess we can say, this map is an invitation to visit the home of |ES|LoRenz on a hot someday in the North of Italy.
Enjoy the visit, and remember, when you visit someone, be polite, and only shot in direction of neighbour :)

|ES|Puffo Sniper did it for fun and for my clan. Was demand from my daughter, so, i made it! :)
Hope you like it and you have fun. Thanks to my daughter Caterina for his help for texture.

GtkRadiant 1.6.3

Urban Terror support improved, QuakeLive support added.

The main item for this release is the addition of QuakeLive support. This includes support for the encrypted paks, and png textures support (including on models). bspc.exe (for bot navigation files), and a version of q3map2 with QuakeLive support is provided as well.

The Urban Terror support has been improved as well. The default compiler for UrT is now the modified compiler that was release by FrozenSand, with the lighting model that UrT level designers are accustomed to.

Dirty Bomb renamed Extraction, to be published by Nexon - We're excited to reveal that Splash Damage is partnering with Nexon America to operate our free-to-play multiplayer shooter Extraction in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand. Known as Dirty Bomb during our limited Closed Alpha, Extraction is set in London, now abandoned after a mysterious radiological attack. Groups of mercenaries now fight to extract (ah ha!) the secrets left behind. Read on to find out about our new partnership with Nexon, what’s changing (hint: nothing much), and Extraction’s debut at PAX this month. vg247.com

Why Nexon? Unlike our previous games, Extraction extraction.nexon.net is going to be an on-going service, with regular game updates, new features and functionality, and new content well after release. We want to make sure that you’re able to get the best possible quality of service near you, and we’re partnering with operators around the world to make this happen. Enter Nexon.

Blood flies through the air, fists are hitting faces and bats smacking tables. That's an impression how we decide what event is next. We couldn't agree: Mobius wanted knife people, To Nie Ja wanted to play the panzer and Wutang loves to snipe. Then suddenly there was a light and Old-Owl walked in. With his wise words he proposed to do all.

This sunday (25 August) at 20:00 cest we play a Panzer-Knife-Sniper event. 3 Maps each and then the winner will be called.

Make sure you close the windows, lock the door and have enough food to enjoy our slaughter event.
See you at Dark Alchemy A2: 213.239.207.85:27961
