ET: Quake Wars
This is an interview with Paul "Locki" Wedgwood, the owner and creative directory of Splashdamage.

Q: How big is the installation size of the final game?
Locki: It will all match to one DVD, but we dont know the exact installation size yet. It also depends on how big your cluster values are set to on your harddrive and if you are using a FAT32 or NTFS partition. But it will definitly fits on one DVD.

Q: How big is a average Map which is using the Mega Texture Technologie?
Locki: A normal Megatexture starts at about 6 GB Source Image. Its 32 000 squarepixels large and that includes various properties. We compress that to a file which is about 300 - 400 MB per Map. This will use abour 30-40 MB of Memory in the game itself. Thats a brilliant system beacause we are starting at 6 GB and at the end it just uses about 40 MB of RAM on your computer.

Q: is it possible to disable the vehicles that you dont have any vehicles on a normal map? A lot of our users are playing RtCW and W:ET since years. they like to have the same feeling to play like in their old game.
Locki: There is no mode to play our maps without any vehicles. But we have some maps in our game which are comparable with the old W:ET or RtCW Maps. Not every map features the same vehicles and for sure not the same amount of Vehicles. Some Maps have more and some have less vehicles. But to accomplish your targets you always have to be on foot. The vehicles can't help you there. So we have a lot of Maps which are focused on foot-combat.

Again a new mod for No Quarter made by pisherman. This time the scenario is set to the war in Vietnam. Because of the larger filesize the mod is splited into three pk3's (one pk3 for the Vietnam-Style, two additional soundpacks, one for weaponsounds and one adds new voicechats), so you can choose what you want on your server. As small bonus every pk3 works stand-alone.

If you ever wanted to play ET in ice and snow, here's your chance.
Every map is changed to a snowy scenario (Fueldump and Railgun are reworked). The playerskins are as real as even possible for me, Axis wear snow- and spring/fall-camouflage, the Allies got trenchcoats in dark colours.
Furthermore I included teamspecific weaponskins and command posts, new flags, nUllSkillZ' V6-Voicechat-Icons and a bit more to make this mod a good one.

If you don't like the new style of Fueldump and Railgun, I made an additonal pk3 which switches the maps back to their original style.

Other snow-maps are not affected by using this mod!

At the moment we are testing a small change in the session-rating calculation. These changes should stop the 'noob-bashing' practised by skilled player because we won't support such behaviour with good ratings. We took notice of this phenomenon especially in combination with 2.55 servers and relating to this issue there have been some discerning posts in the forum. We decided against an additional handling of the 2.55 servers or even an exclusion because we do not want to censor or intervent in the rating. Same calculation for all is our motto. That is why these changes are active for all servers, whereas 2.55 servers should be mainly affected which attracted our attention making 'noob-bashing' possible.

P.S.: 99,9% of all players should not be concerned by the changes.

ET: Quake Wars
According to an interview in the May issue of PCGamer Quake Wars will have bots, developed by John Dean, creator of the Fritz Bot mod. John Dean has recently joined id Software. Together with this news, Splashdamage also relased other informations.

An interview with Paul Wedgwood, the owner and creative designer of Splash Damage, discussing their upcoming game "Enemy Territory: QUAKE Wars". The interview runs for 23 minutes and is presented in 720P High Definition video.

Paul discusses the bots that will be included with the game, community features such as statistics tracking, how the closed beta is progressing, what competitive features will be included, the major improvements the game has seen since QuakeCon, designing an appealing game for everyone, the name registration system, and how Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory's success will have helped Quake Wars.

This Funsoundpack made by shagileo includes all of the taunts of the Age of Empires I game. It was created to add some extra AOE fun atmosphere in the game.

You like japanese? This time you can snipe from two japanese towns high up in the mountains. Two mirrored sides with houses. You can cross by jumping in the waterfall and then you will get on ice. In the ice are two holes where you can jump or slide in and then you are on the other side in the waterfall.

LostParadise map is a tropical island. After its colonization, there was build some military structure. In the nature, the buildings, the towers and the airport you can find some good Sniperspots. Conquer one of the rockets for a flight to the spacestation to have a better view over the large terrain.

Changes since Beta 0.9

  • Some structures added, like the houses, the spacestation, some in the tunnels and more.
  • added interactivity to the rockets.
  • added some lights for the darker rooms.
  • inside the greater bushes are clipshots now, so you are save behind them.

As you can see, its a Toolbar. There is also a tray menu if you want to disable the toolbar. Don't worry, this program is very light (6 MB in RAM mermory; 0.5 MB on hard-disk!), it let your CPU and your connection quiet (no CPU and no bandwidth usage)!
  • "Anias spirit": no registery interaction, no system or game modification! (I hate heavy programs, lighter is better)
  • you want to remove ETUL? Just throw it in the bin!

This tool uses Autohotkey programation language, so at first install, ETUL will ask you to install it. Autohotkey is clean, safe and light (not as the Netframework thing).

Changelog:

  • New intergrated Patch-Selector. It will be downloaded automatically during the first launch of Scrim-Launcher. In this way, you will not have to download it each ETUL updates. It is a patch selector 2.6b/2.55 only, and will be installed in the game folder, in a directory "ETUL patchselector." This patch selector won't come into conflict with others patchselectors that you have already installed, so no worries.
  • Consequently, the configuration of ETUL is simplified (no adjustment for the patch selector).
  • nicer downloading interface for next updates and for the patch-selector auto-download.
  • The scrim-Launcher closes automatically once a game launched.
  • If a game is already running, Scrim-Launcher will not launch a second game (which caused a kick of the game). A message will tell you that a game is already in progress.
