We are proud to present the new duel map for ET (also possible to play 2on2) - Badplace4_beta8! Originally, The Bad Place was DM4 from Quake1 - "One of the three id Software maps included in the "big five" for 1on1 play, created by American McGee" - the version most known to us all is the RtCW remake badplace3 used to create the ET multi_huntplace.

This modified version of The Bad Place is brought to you by  MaTeJ, who has worked on maps such as tjwar_a1_fixed and crypt_final_fixed - his remake of the multi_huntplace map is a better, more complex version with some minor bug fixes and generally attempted to make the map more fun to play and tactical.

A list of changes/bugfixes can be found inside pk3 file in readme.nfo (open it with default windows notepad or Notepad++/DAMN NFO Viewer) Badplace makes use of horizontal and vertical movement/aiming, this makes you practice mouse movement aiming in all ways.

Known Bugs
 

  • Acid stops hurting one player once another player falls into it. Once player is dead, acid starts hurting previous player. Acid damage chains (ETMain Bug).
  • All Healing/Resupply Spots, when player is at full HP/AMMO, still disappear when taken, but won't give any extra HP/AMMO. This is possible for tactical reasons. We enjoy it, so it stays (Cannot be fixed due to ET limitation).
  • Cushion textures won't play footsteps sound when a player falls (ETPro bug).
  • Deploy tunnel is blocked when one teammate is lagged inside (2on2 only). Solution: Change spawn to Default/Alternative, depending on which tunnel the lagged player is in, or kick the teammate.
  • Green Healing Spots should give 5HP bonus up to 200HP maximum player health, descending each second by 1HP to 100HP (max FieldOps HP), like it was in RtCW (Cannot be done due to ET limitation).
  • Hidden Sequence crashes occasionally when the player is shooting to the target while the script is switching to INVISIBLE mode. In the next attempt, the same target would be automatically skipped.
  • Limbo Camera displays nothing when player is deploying. After deployed - works fine.
  • Pause doesn't stop respawn countdown for Healing/Resupply Spots.
  • Resupply Spot should give 3 additional grenades instead of ammo pack (Cannot be done due to ET limitation).
  • Sometimes OverBounce occurs (Q3/ET bug).

This version is not network compatible with the previous versions. In this release we focussed on fixing stuff. This should make the game a little bit more stable, we still have a long way to go

New features:

  • Version check, when we release a new version you will be notified in the main menu
  • Obituaries ! (SomeDude? was killed.) Experimental, I'm open to changes.
  • Votes have now sounds.
  • support for MOTD's (message of the day) on servers, so server admin can advertise their forums, etc

Fixes:


  • Fixed a possible divide by zero which could result in a client crash
  • The forest map is playable again
  • Now a wrongly set g_limbotime value will not crash the server
  • TitaN655? fixed the ingame notes
  • All maps now have a default wait time of 20 seconds, so you have time enough to check the scoreboard.
  • When g_limbotime was lower or equal to (sv_fps/1000) you couldn't respawn, now it cannot be set lower.
  • Notebook was missing
  • Restart server immediatly when its empty don't wait 5 seconds, because this resulted in AI script errors
  • Mission failed now restarts the map and doesn't fade to black
  • Master server has now a hostname (I bought rtcwcoop.com yay!), I also made sure that the IP's in your config files are replaced by this
  • hostname, this should also fix the empty serverbrowser issues on some clients
  • Cleanup in serverinfo cvars
  • When a server is spawned bots are removed first.
  • Challenge is reset when a client disconnects
  • Don't call GAME_CLIENT_DISCONNECT when a client reconnects.
  • Some memory cleanups when clients disconnect
  • MAN-AT-ARMS fixed the fog, great !
  • Cinematics are completely removed in crypt1 and church
  • Maxlives maxlives fixes (restart map if everyone is dead), also updated the HUD for this

Urban Terror support improved, QuakeLive support added.
 

The main item for this release is the addition of QuakeLive support. This includes support for the encrypted paks, and png textures support (including on models). bspc.exe (for bot navigation files), and a version of q3map2 with QuakeLive support is provided as well.

The Urban Terror support has been improved as well. The default compiler for UrT is now the modified compiler that was release by FrozenSand, with the lighting model that UrT level designers are accustomed to.

The installers are available in the downloads section.


You are encouraged to run this latest version and if you experience any issues, you can report them here or on the IRC channel.

The Oscar-winning co-writer of Pulp Fiction and the producer of the Silent Hill movies are teaming up to bring the classic video game Castle Wolfenstein to the big screen.

In an announcement made at the American Film Market (AFM), producer Samuel Hadida and Panorama Media said they've tapped Roger Avary (who also scripted the original Silent Hill movie for Hadida) to write and direct Castle Wolfenstein.The filmmaker had been attached to the project (then titled Return to Castle Wolfenstein) a few years ago before his prison sentence for gross vehicular manslaughter and drunken driving.

Here's the official boilerplate on the movie via today's press release: "Castle Wolfenstein is an action adventure film in the vein of Captain America and Inglourious Basterds.  The story follows a young US Army Captain and a British Special Agent on a top secret mission to Castle Wolfenstein, where Hitler will be for the unveiling of a new secret weapon.  After reaching the Castle, our heroes are confronted with Himmler’s SS Paranormal Division and must fight, not only for their survival, but for a mission that could alter the course of the War."

"With Roger at the helm, we expect everyone will join us for a wild and fun cinematic ride that will grab contemporary film audiences with the same irreverent, hip, over the top approach that Roger brought to Pulp Fiction and the other films he has either written or directed," said Hadida. "It is a big action adventure but also strongly character driven and based on a very solid story. ... The film involves a classic assault on the bad guys, who are nominally Nazis, more evocative of Inglourious Basterds than the actual World War II. It is a vaguely futuristic retro world as fun as Captain America, which has recently been reintroduced to the world audience with great success.”

Said Avary in a statement, "I’ve been playing the Wolfenstein games since I was a kid, and feel that their outlandish sensibility has deeply influenced my own writing and directing throughout my career.  I have always thought Wolfenstein, transformed and opened for the screen to wider audiences not familiar with the games, would be a major cinematic experience, which is why I introduced it to Samuel.  He bought the rights, and I could not be happier that we are now embarking on this adventure.”

However, during next few months I will be working on ways to monetize TZAC while keeping it generally free to use. The plan is to introduce low-cost premium accounts which would give some additional features (but TZAC would function normally even if you don't pay), perhaps own clan/match system on the site including tournaments, etc.

We have modified our serverlist. Now it shows an indicator wether a server is ranked or not.

There are a few reasons why a server isn`t ranked:
-No vaild cheat protection (which are atm. pb and slac)
-Bots on the server
-Server returns invalid data

Hover the indication-picture to get information why the corresponding server isn`t ranked.


Have fun with this new feature.

As another little improved feature we have overworked the maplist to give you a better "feeling" while searching for maps or mapinfos. You can now see if the rating for the map is enabled or disabled. You have also the option to show maps only for a specific game (ET, RtCW, TCE, ETF) or you just display all of em.

ETLive announcement

 

So from the title, you may be asking questions or already have some idea of what this project is. Basically ETLive, is Enemy Territory, the game we all play and love within a web browser. ETLive is a multi-platform, multi-browser implementation of Enemy Territory, with very similar intentions to that of Quake Live.

Overview

This project will contain an entirely new way of playing Enemy Territory. Users will be able to create their account and play instantly after downloading the browser plugin and downloading the base of ETLive. One major issue this resolves with ET, is that it eliminates issues in players finding their first game, going from 2.55 to 2.60 and then to 2.60b, and then having to proceed to download a vast number of pk3 files when they finally get on to joining a server.
Once your account has been created on ETLive, and you are ready to play, you can invite your friends using the in-browser buddy system or join your friends in their games in progress.
As the current releases of Enemy Territory, ETLive will have dedicated servers, but with more functionality. ETLive supports ranking and achievements, meaning that you can play your games for profile achievements and work to build your score up and possibly work your way up leader-boards, or just outrank your friends. Of course achievements are not entirely the focus of the game, and they’re there just to improve your experience and enjoyment of the game. YCN will be supporting game-servers on ETLive and are closely working with the development and helping as much as possible to ensure that this project is as enjoyable and successful as possible.

Competitive support

Of course if there is YCN, there will be GamesTV! We hope that the release will swiftly also have a TV protocol similar to the current features and performance of the current protocol, this should ensure that the competitive scene is taken care of also in the potential move over to ETLive. The competitive side of Enemy Territory is also important to the success of ETLive, we have also been in talks with TZ-AC about the future of anti-cheat on a new Enemy Territory client and anti-cheat will be implemented into ETlive from day one.

Unique features

As we mentioned before, it is hard for new gamers to join, however with the appearance of the currently client, players may be discouraged to try ETLive also. We are considering potentially improving the appearance of the client for ETLive which will possibly bring in new players. Another feature is potential new game modes such as Domination, which is in current Call of Duty style games.

Current setbacks

You may be thinking "Well this is just going to go a month and be forgotten”, well ETLive has currently been on and off in development for a long time, and has been kept quiet to avoid legal issues. Ideas have come to light about how to avoid these, and keep ETLive as secure as possible, and ETLive is in a stage at the moment where it is loaded into the browser and playable. We say this but please note, it is a far way to go.

Who are we?

ETLive is a very small project at this time, and there are only 2 main developers, and other people who are contributing other stuff into the project. The two developers are Kai "Apologet” Rathmann, and Eamon "Dutchmeat” Woortman. Both developers are from the RTCW scene in the past, and have ran communities in Enemy Territory and RTCW in the past.

The near future

The intention now is to release a closed Alpha by December and to have basic LUA support from day one. The Alpha will be very limited and unfortunately only invitational, however we will keep you updated on the development at our website which will contain development news at https://etlive.entirely.pro/ where we and YCN are active.
Be sure to follow our progress and keep up to date on our website, we promise to keep you updated with news and updates.


Prototype screenshots

This is the prototype of the ETLive website. It’s loaded dynamicly and as you can see it’s now able to retrieve the serverlist and connect to a server.

Don’t mind the layout/style, it will be changed when we can. We’re currently rushing to get the functionality done first.

there is a chance TZAC will stay online as I'm negotiating with a few people who are interested in continuing the TZAC development and continuing the project under a new name, but keeping the user base and everything else the same (much like when only the name changed from SLAC to TZAC).

Please wait a few more days before making decision to drop TZAC.

TZ-AC is shutting down after more than 2 years of running this project.
